Overview
‘Sunshine’ is another pleasing record from Jungle, and the title feels pretty appropriate. Smooth, warm and ready for a beachfront or poolside afternoon, it settles into those familiar Soul and Disco grooves with very little fuss. Lydia Kitto’s vocals are a real highlight, floating over the production and giving the record a softness that suits it beautifully - you can tell why Jungle have fully adopted her at this point. There’s enough bounce to keep your head moving, but everything feels relaxed enough to let the time disappear around you. The formula does get a little repetitive, with some moments blending together rather than making their own impression, but the ride is still enjoyable. I’d love to hear those familiar Jungle nostalgic male vocals take the lead a little more, bringing some contrast alongside Kitto. Even with that wish, there’s plenty to enjoy here. Jungle remain very good at making everyday life feel like it comes with a bit of sunshine.
Recommended for those wanting to kick back in the sunshine.

I’m all for continuity, and I like Jungle’s style, but I’m a bit bored with the design at this point. The colour scheme here is underwhelming, too.
