Overview
Muse’s second release is a bold and ambitious statement that solidified the band as a force to be reckoned with. ‘Origin of Symmetry’ is a thrilling fusion of grandiose arrangements, cinematic atmosphere, and sheer intensity, blending Alternative Rock with elements of Classical and Progressive music. Every moment is drenched in dramatic flair, from soaring operatic falsettos to thunderous riffs and intricate piano melodies, all driven by an unrelenting energy that feels both chaotic and meticulously controlled. This record is a defining moment in Muse’s career, showcasing their ability to push boundaries while wearing their influences on their sleeve, all while maintaining a powerful emotional core. It remains one of their most daring and essential works.
Recommended for Classic music lovers looking to get into band music for a progressive and aggressive sound.

It’s completely original and seemingly devoid of meaning beyond an artistic statement. The structures almost resemble NFL goalposts scattered throughout a hyperspace universe - dramatic, otherworldly, and somehow a perfect fit for the album’s mood. The decision to use different stances for the objects on a numbered amount of releases was also a nice touch.
