Overview
PRATTS & PAIN is the long awaited debut album from Australian duo Royel Otis, offering a fantastic blend of Indie Rock with their Pop charm. With comparisons with bands like MGMT and Pheonix, the duo are in good company and their debut showcases their ability to craft anthemic tunes. Using infectious hooks with introspective lyricism, touching on themes of love, addiction, and emotional weariness - it has themes that could relate to just about anybody. Royel Otis manage to create a sonic landscape that feels both nostalgic and fresh, with dreamy textures and disco-infused rhtyhms that intertwine with hypnotic guitar work. This is a record thats charm grows with every listen and confirm Royel Otis as one of the more exciting forces in Indie music.
Recommended for TikTok users looking to delve into the rabbit hole of their new favourite band.

Despite its black-and-white tone, it's a striking image that may have no clear meaning but works incredibly well here. The name ‘PRATTS & PAIN’ comes from the ‘Pratts and Payne’ English pub, so my hope is that this is an image of the duo trying to sneak into said pub - but I doubt it.
