HOT NIGHTS STUDIO
Overview
Operating from 1984 to 1999, Hot Nights Studio was a private recording facility in Fulham, West London, that became closely associated with both chart-topping 80s pop and the UK’s emerging alternative and trip-hop scenes. Originally established by producer Sandy McLelland before transitioning to new ownership in 1990, the studio maintained a deliberately low public profile while acting as a vital playground for boundary-pushing audio experimentation. The facility also earned a permanent place in British music history by hosting Massive Attack during the formative tracking sessions for their genre-defining 1991 debut. Although little documented and officially dissolved at the turn of the millennium, Hot Nights remains a highly respected bunker within London’s underground recording history.
