WOODCRAY STUDIOS
Overview
Woodcray Studios was a highly regarded independent residential "farmhouse studio" facility operating outside London. Established in the late 1970s on a historic farm estate along Finchampstead Road, the facility was masterminded technically by prominent resident house engineer and producer Nick Horne. Woodcray paired relaxed, private countryside living with a highly capable analogue workflow centred around pristine multi-track tape formats. It earned a massive reputation during the 1980s and early 1990s as a cross-genre destination, fluidly transitioning between underground British folk-punk, progressive jazz fusion, and elite heavy metal tracking blocks before winding down operations ahead of the millennium.
