HANSA TONSTUDIO

Hansa Tonstudio

Overview
Hansa Tonstudio stands as one of the most mythic, globally influential, and historically significant recording landmarks in music history. Formally established in 1964 by the Meisel Music publishing family, the facility famously migrated to a grand, war-damaged building on Köthener Straße in 1975, positioning its tracking windows directly overlooking the grim concrete of the Berlin Wall. The complex achieved legendary status for its cavernous Studio 2 - The Meistersaal Concert Hall - where natural, room-shaking acoustic reverbs defined the sound of international rock vanguard generations. While the Meistersaal was restored for public events in 1993, the facility upstairs continues to thrive as an active commercial powerhouse.
