Overview
Greenhouse Studios is a residential recording studio at Vogasel 9 in the Breiðholt suburb of Reykjavík, Iceland. Founded in 1997 by composer and producer Valgeir Sigurðsson, it began as his personal workspace in an industrial neighbourhood. Its name was a deliberate contrast to the concrete surroundings: a place where music and ideas could grow. Sigurðsson subsequently established a purpose-built home for the studio, bringing together three interconnected production suites and a bright live room. Studio A doubles as a control room and performance space, allowing musicians and engineers to work alongside one another. Its SSL AWS900 console and Otari 24-track tape machine sit among vintage keyboards, a Broadwood grand piano and an extensive modular synthesiser collection. Guest accommodation and a shared kitchen support longer residential sessions, while the independent label Bedroom Community has made Greenhouse its creative home.
