Overview
Establishing the estate in 1999, photographer, musician, and audio entrepreneur Randall Wallace created Allaire Studios - a world-class residential recording complex situated at the historic Glen Tonche estate in Shokan, New York. Wallace partnered with lead designer John Storyk of the Walters-Storyk Design Group and acoustician George Augspurger to transform it into an elite destination facility. Its architectural centrepiece is the 2,000-square-foot Great Hall, featuring soaring 45-foot ceilings and enormous windows overlooking the Catskill Mountains and Ashokan Reservoir. Opened in 2002, the room was originally anchored by an SSL 9000J console before receiving the rare AIR Montserrat Neve desk in 2007. The adjoining Neve Room, opened in 2001, centres on a vintage Neve 8068 console paired with Studer analogue tape machines and modern Pro Tools systems. Although its permanently staffed commercial model was discontinued in 2008, Allaire Studios remained available for project-based sessions and continues operating as an owner-managed residential retreat.
