BATTLE TAPES RECORDING
Overview
Established in early 2002 by Grammy-winning recording engineer and producer Jeremy Ferguson, Battle Tapes Recording is an analogue-and-digital recording studio located in East Nashville, Tennessee. Originally operated from a basement in Murfreesboro, the project moved to Ferguson’s Nashville residence in March 2003 and gradually developed into a professional home-based commercial facility. In 2013, a detached garage was comprehensively rebuilt into a dedicated tracking room with floated floors, reinforced walls and vaulted ceilings, providing greater space for live ensemble and drum recording. The technical setup centres on a 16-channel Spectra Sonics SS100 - the company’s first newly manufactured console since 1979 - paired with a Studer A80 MkII two-inch tape machine configured for 16-track recording and modern digital workstations. Remaining active under its original name, Battle Tapes Recording has become an influential destination for Nashville’s independent Rock, Alternative and Experimental music communities.
