Overview
‘BRAT’ arrived with the sort of confidence that makes everyone else look like they’re overthinking it. Charli xcx takes the sweaty, messy freedom of club culture and turns it into a Pop record with serious confidence. The bass hits hard, the synths are sharp, and the hooks feel built to be shouted back in the club. There’s a real thrill in how direct it all is, with swagger running through the deadpan vocals and distorted production - its sick. The impact spilled well beyond the music, turning lime green and a carefree attitude into the calling cards of summer 2024 - omg BRAT summer!!! You can hear why people wanted a piece of it: this is music that makes you feel like the most interesting person in the room. A proper celebration of going out, taking up space and being a bit of a mess, delivered by someone completely committed to her own sound and vision.
Recommended for the divas who are convinced BRAT summer will never end.

I mean BRAT summer was born out of just one pixelated image. Doesn’t get much more iconic than that.
